Rosso Corporation was a short lived Japanese company, allegedly founded by some former Fujimi employees. During its brief existence Rosso made some excellent kits and these RX-7 kits are no exception.
The Rosso RX-7 kits are all kerbside models but cockpit interior, chassis and suspension are all very well and accurately detailed.
Just an example of Rosso's attention to detail: there is a choice of manual or automatic shift levers with
matching three or two pedals clusters. I've seen optional shift levers before, but never with the right sets of pedals included as well.
In addition to regular kits, two more levels of kits were available:
GPV | Grade-up Painting Version | kits contain a factory painted body |
---|---|---|
GMV | Grade-up Maniac Version | kits contain additional detail parts (white metal, photo-etched metal, etc.) |
The PRA-X 10 kit is the only RX-7 kit at GPV level, I am not aware of any GMV level RX-7 kits.
The box top paintings by H. Ohishi for the Enfini kits are true works of art, I added links to larger versions to the images for the PRA-X 6 and 7 kits.

This kit comes with all body parts molded in red. The spoiler kit comes separate.
Neat touch is the optional luggage cover, which hides a fully detailed trunk.
Chassis and interior parts are molded in medium gray. Wheels, brake discs, exhaust tips and door mirror faces are satin plated. Tires are beautifully detailed 16in Bridgestone Expedia S-07 size 225/50.

The only true Type X 1/24 kit I know of. It is the same as the Enfini Type R kit, but with the body parts now molded in black.
In addition to the spoiler kit (which was optional on Base and Touring/Type X RX-7's),
this kit comes with the full Bose sound system: console face plate, speakers, 'snake'
tubes in the trunk and even including a perforated luggage cover.
The sound system parts are molded in black, chassis and interior parts are molded in medium gray. Wheels, brake discs, exhaust tips and door mirror faces are satin plated. Bridgestone Expedia S-07 tires.

The box top picture shows a Japanese Enfini RX-7, the kit in the box depicts an Enfini Type R.
This Grade-up Painting Version kit was sold with a factory painted body (painted either black or red, which is visible through a small window in one short edge of the box).
Chassis and interior parts are molded in medium gray. Wheels, brake discs, exhaust tips and door mirror faces are satin plated. Bridgestone Expedia S-07 tires.

Although the box top picture shows a Japanese Enfini RX-7 (in fact it's the
mirror image of the picture on the PRA-X 10 box), the kit is for a US specs Mazda RX-7 R1.
Again it is basically the same as the Enfini Type R kit, with a black body, with
the right hand drive parts (winshield wipers, dashboard) replaced with left hand drive ones and a new set of decals.
Closer inspection reveals that the body and the wheels were also modified: the body has the mounting holes for the windshield wipers moved to the other side, the wheels now come with a Mazda emblem in the center instead of an Enfini emblem.
Chassis and interior parts are molded in medium gray. Wheels, brake discs, exhaust tips and door mirror faces are satin plated. Bridgestone Expedia S-07 tires.
Note that there is an error in the instructions: the picture for step 6 correctly shows the export steering wheel with airbag (part A14) but instead lists part number A13, which is for the Japanese steering wheel with Enfini emblem.

This is the Enfini Type R kit with some interesting extras:
The rest of the Type R parts are all there, including the spoiler set
and the optional shift lever and pedal sets for manual or automatic gear box.
The chassis and interior parts are molded in medium gray, the body and exterior parts are molded in yellow.

This is the Enfini Type X kit with the same extras as the DORI² 1 Enfini RX-7 Type R kit.
All of the Type X parts are still included, including the Bose sound system parts, the spoiler set
and the optional shift lever and pedal sets for manual or automatic gear box.
The chassis and interior parts are molded in medium gray, the body and exterior parts are molded in red.
released in October 1992
This is a 1/43rd scale version of the Enfini Type R kit.
The chassis parts are molded in silver-gray polystyrene, the floorpan and interior parts are molded in black polystyrene, the body and exterior parts are molded in red ABS. Wheels, exhaust and gearbox guard are satin aluminum plated.
Very nice Potenza tires, a nice little set of decals and a sheet of pre-cut metalized foil stickers for mirrors and reflectors for the lights make this kit almost as well detailed as the 1/24 RX-7 FD kits and certainly better than most die-cast models, once again confirming Rosso's keen eye for detail.
Most models in the 1/43rd scale CAM series were also available in the factory-assembled G-P series, however I am not aware of any RX-7 models in the G-P series.
